If you are looking for property in this area, give us a call and we may help you find a wonderful place in the "Alpes-Mediterranee"

L'Escarene is a quiet Italianate village (very few tourists), 12 miles north of Nice, nestled in the foothills of the Maritime Alps. The town has quite a history. It occupied a strategic position in the days of the salt route, from Marseilles to Italy and is now under the protection of the French historical society.

Our house is located in the oldest part of the small village L'Escarene and dates back to the 14th century. We renovated the "maison village" (small village house) a bit, so we could stay in a home, with a lot of history, and learn a little bit about how life used to be ages ago, but have some of the 20th century conveniences. The house is situated in a very picturesque narrow village street.

Nice international airport is 25 minutes away. Delta has direct flights from New York, Kennedy Airport. Car rental (Hertz, Avis etc.) is as far as crossing the street from the terminal.

The bakery (opens at 7am - fresh bread), butcher, grocery store, church, cafe, bus, train station, post office etc. are just a couple of minutes walking distance away.

L'Escarene is perfect for people who want to escape the hoopla from Nice and other tourist places and yet want to be close to everything, that makes the Cote d'Azur (Riviera) so famous - Monaco, Cannes, St. Tropez and don't forget to visit Italy.

The climate is great, no mistral, no extremes as Aix en Provence. When to visit south east France? Any time!

Spring is a wonderful time to visit the Cote d'Azur, flowers abound everywhere. The weather is around 62 - 72 degrees Farenheit.

Summer is of course for the ones who are out to join the people from northern France and other countries. SUMMER VACATION, THE FUN IS ON, beaches, the French as well as the Italian Riviera, the terraces.

Fall, very nice!! The water of the Mediterranean Sea is still warm in September, the beaches are empty and the locals are back from their vacation.

Winter, yes we are 1 1/2 hour away from ski resorts (A half hour away from 'getting in shape' runs) and don't forget, L'Escarene is only 25 minutes away from the Promenade. Ski in the morning and dine overlooking the Mediterranean in the evening.

You want a workout, you got it! Trails galore. Special guides/maps are available for the amateur/professional hiker, mountain climber, skier and biker in bookstores. The Maritime Alps are magnificent, not too many people are aware how beautiful these mountains are. And of course golf, water sports etc. etc.

Shopping...well...MARKETS, malls, SUPER supermarkets, antique/consignment shops, fashion boutiques, chocolates, perfumes etc. IT'S THERE.

Artists, Historians, Architects, Teachers, Students call this a dream area to explore.

Dining...I don't have to tell you.

Sightseeing is of course a must, you have to come back many times to really see it all.

And after a day of excitement, L'Escarene is a wonderful repose. I hope you will visit L'Escarene.
